Our Story
Jason > My journey into art, started long before I ever picked up a camera — though looking back, it feels like the two were always destined to meet.
I began as a would be wildlife artist, completely captivated by the challenge of capturing animals in a way that felt alive. I’d spend hours studying every hair, feather, and glint of light in an eye, trying to understand what made it real. But I soon realised that great realistic art begins long before the first pencil mark — it begins with great reference photos.

Over 1,000 Photos!
That was more than 15 years ago. Since then, our collection has grown to over a thousand of Royalty-free reference photos, covering wildlife, pets, birds, landscapes, and more — all chosen with the artist in mind.

We know what artists need, because we are artists. Every photo is taken with attention to light, detail, and composition — the kind of details that help you bring your art to life.

Thrilling Photography
In the early days, I struggled to find clear, high-quality images that truly captured the character and detail I wanted. So I started taking my own photos — at wildlife parks, zoos, and in the wild. That passion quickly grew into something much bigger. I discovered that photography gave me the same joy as painting — the thrill of freezing a fleeting moment of beauty, and the satisfaction of knowing it could inspire a drawing or painting later.

Before long, other artists began asking to use my photos too. So, with my wife Katherine — who shares both my love of animals and photography — we began carefully curating our favourite shots and creating Artist Reference Photo Packs.
